Missions

Seacoast Missions exists to fight poverty, seek justice, and bring hope locally, nationally, and globally. Join us in making a difference.

Local Missions

We believe the local church is called to demonstrate the love of Jesus to our neighbors. Our specific focus is to create clear pathways for engagement to serve vulnerable children and families, and those experiencing homelessness. We believe serving others introduces people to the heart of God while also meeting basic needs.

Saturday, March 1

Serve Day provides an exciting opportunity to go into our communities to show the love of Jesus to our neighbors through simple but intentional acts of kindness known as “SERVE projects.”

Have you ever thought about how you can be the answer to someone’s prayer or meet a need in your community? Below are 5 simple steps to help you create a SERVE project that will have a lasting impact.

Step 1

Find A Need

Needs are everywhere if we take time to notice them. Have you ever needed help with yard work, minor repairs, or a meal during a stressful season? Ask God to reveal someone with a similar challenge or to show you another way to make a difference.

Step 2

Can You Meet It Practically?

If you’re tackling a need, big or small, break down the practical steps to meet the need.

Step 3

Define Your Goal

Some ideas are designed to brighten the day of a bunch of people (e.g., giving out 100 cups of hot chocolate at a busy street corner). Others are designed to make a deep impact in the life of one specific person or family (e.g., an extreme home makeover for a single mom). Both are important. Take some time to define your goal.

Step 4

Ensure Your SERVE Project is Volunteer Friendly

Consider who you will invite to participate in your project and do your best to ensure their experience will be worthwhile. Make sure everyone gets a chance to add value, their time is honored, and that they want to come back to serve again.

Step 5

Ask Yourself “Will This Idea Truly Share Jesus’ Love with Someone?”

Take time to pray and ask the Holy Spirit to go before you and work through you. More than getting a task done, the goal is about finding a way to reflect the love of Jesus to others in a tangible way. Have fun!

Serve Day FAQs

Will there be serve projects available for those NOT in a small group?

Yes! We will have many projects that you can participate in on Serve Day. Many of the small groups have space for you to join them on their project. In addition, several of our Local Missions Partners will also have projects you can join. Opportunities will be posted throughout the month leading up to SERVE Day so keep checking the website. We encourage you to include your family/friends and participate.

I want to participate in Serve Day but I’m not in a small group. How do I find a group?

Small groups meet regularly to study the Bible, pray for one another, and offer opportunities to build lasting relationships. Click here to find a group. Keep in mind that if you’re not already in a small group, you may meet people when you’re serving and find out if you can join their group.

Are there serve projects already created or does my group need to create one?

If you’re part of a group (small group, family, or friend group), we encourage you to pray and ask God to show you a need that you can meet and create a SERVE project to meet the need. Post the project on the website by selecting “Create a Project” above and have everyone sign up. You can also add a few extra spots for people who are not connected to a group. If you do not have a group to serve with, select “Find a Project” above.

How do I plan a serve project?

Get creative! Assess the needs of people in your neighborhood and around your community. Perhaps there is a widow, single mother, or elderly person that could be assisted by cutting grass or cleaning up their yard. Firefighters, police officers, school resource officers, and local business owners are all great people to serve!

Should I communicate to the Church which Serve Day project our group is planning?

We are interested in knowing what project your group is participating in. We want to be praying for you and hear your story!

Who pays the costs associated with a serve project (supplies, travel expenses, etc.)?

Each group is responsible to provide the supplies and costs associated with their SERVE project. Spend time determining the scope of your project and plan your work based on your group size and commitment level.

What if my business has materials or supplies, we would like to donate?

Unfortunately, Seacoast will not be able to provide tax receipts for Serve Day projects at this time. If you or your business would like to provide materials for your project, please contact your project leader for planning purposes.

What should I bring on Serve Day?

Plan to bring any personal items you may need, like your Serve Day T-shirt, bottled water, comfortable shoes, etc., along with any items pertaining to your project such as rakes, gloves, lawnmowers, tarps, work tools, etc.  For projects requiring physical labor, work clothes are a good idea.

What if it rains?

If you have an outdoor project, we encourage you to make plans to have an inclement weather option in mind. Here are a few ideas to get you thinking: bring quarters to a laundromat, take gift baskets or lunch to a local fire or police station, serve with your local food bank, write and send letters to veterans or those actively serving in the military, or volunteer at a local animal shelter.

Global Missions

Seacoast partners globally with life-giving churches and organizations who provide spiritual and physical support to their communities. Focus areas include: church planting, education, health, safe environments, and development.

Our goal is to assist our partners in fulfilling the vision that God has given them by appropriately providing resources without creating dependency. Serving teams are one of those resources! Our short-term global mission teams provide a great opportunity to work alongside our global partners to provide hope and show the love of Jesus to their local community.

The Pastors Collective

The Pastors Collective is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping pastors, their partners, and ministry leaders from all denominations learn to be well so they can build well. The Pastors Collective focuses on helping to build relationships, provide resources, and offering a signature retreat experience designed to help individuals relax, restore, and reconnect with God and like-minded ministry leaders.

Association of Related Churches

The Association of Related Churches ("ARC") is a cooperative of independent churches from different denominations, networks, and backgrounds who strategically resource church planters and pastors to help them reach people with the message of Jesus.

Seacoast Benevolence

We help connect people to resources in times of crisis. Our goal is to “do with, not for” and walk with each individual from crisis to healthy sustainability. This enables the individual to find God and grow in their faith.

This mission is accomplished through Community Resource Specialist teams, the Seacoast Acts 4 Family Fund, and referral services to local agencies and ministries offering community resources. Our trained volunteers will walk you through hardships, including the need for financial assistance using local, state, federal, and church programs.
