Hey Seacoast!
I hope you are able to get out and enjoy this blast
of Spring weather that we have been having! I just
wanted to update you on a few things going on
around here and encourage you that you are all
making a difference here at Seacoast!

First, in case you missed it this week; Seacoast
was on the news! WFMY came out on Sunday night to
cover the kickoff to Financial Peace University!
Our own Daniel Strayer and Amy Cole were
interviewed and did a great job! Here's a link in
case you missed it!
http://www.tinyurl.com/fpu-seacoastgso

Other things you should know about!
WORSHIP- Join us this weekend as we continue
"I Have Some Questions" This week we are taking
questions about the church; Seacoast and the
Church "Universal". You also don't want to miss
Pastor Greg exposing one of my most embarrassing
moments during the message this week. Yikes!

CONNECT- Our LifeGroups (formerly "Small Groups")
are ongoing now and having a great time discussing
the message from the weekend further. To get
connected, just check "Being in a LifeGroup" on
your connect card this week.

GROW- Don't forget to subscribe to "After the
Message" on our website at www.seacoast.org It is
a great tool for further study during the week.
Also, if you are a manly man...join us for Men's
Group Wednesday nights at 7pm!

SERVE- A couple of opportunities to serve this
week... This Saturday Lou and Chris McCarthy are
moving and could use some muscle! If you are
available Saturday morning and can lend a hand,
please let me know and I will get you the details.
Also, on Saturday morning a group of us are heading
to the Ronald McDonald House to cook breakfast for
the families there. Again, if you are interested,
please contact me and Ill get you up to speed.

SHARE- Do you have a specific list of people that
you are praying will accept Christ? If not, take
some time to make one and get praying. A great way
to help them get there is to invite them to a
Seacoast service!

That's about it for now! Cant wait to see
everyone on Sunday!

After the Weekend
Wednesday, January 21, 2009 — Brett Thompson

January 20, 2009

What a week already!
We celebrated Martin Luther King Jr. day, there's
snow on the ground, and we have a new President.
Wow, and it is only Tuesday!

Hope that this email is finding you well today.
Just wanted to touch base on a couple of things:

First, what a great service we had Sunday.
Week one of "I Have Some Questions" was awesome!
If you missed it, be sure and go to the website,
www.seacoast.org and watch it. Also, don't forget
that on the website as well you can click on
"After the Message" for more resources to help
you grow between weekends. You can also subscribe
to "After the Message" and it will send these
resources throughout the week directly to your
email. What a great tool to use.

I think you can tell by week one that this is a
really good series to invite friends to. Be thinking
this week of who you can invite to join us this
weekend.

Men of Seacoast, we will be joining together this
Wednesday night at the church at 7pm to continue
or doctrinal and Bible studies. Hope to see you
there!

Also, please continue to send your email questions
to Pastor Greg at pastorgreg@seacoast.org Come on
Greensboro, lets represent with some of our
questions being answered in an upcoming week!

One more, dont forget that we will have our
Financial Peace preview immediately following
service this coming Sunday!

Hope you have a great week. Drive safe on the
slick roads and try to stay warm. Keep up the good
work on the 21-Day fast too, and remember we have
a message board for the fast going on our
Facebook page! http://tinyurl.com/94kx9u

21 Day Fast Tip
Thursday, January 15, 2009 — Brett Thompson

Here at Seacoast, we have entered a 21-day fast this week.
I've noticed and heard a lot of talk (grumbling) about fasting and how difficult it is. Believe me, I understand what a stretch some of this may be for some of you. Especially those of you doing the Daniel Fast. Let me take a pastoral moment to point you to Matthew 6:16-18

16 “And when you fast, do not look gloomy like the hypocrites, for they disfigure their faces that their fasting may be seen by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. 17 But when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face, 18 that your fasting may not be seen by others but by your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.

This verse clearly says that we are to go about our lives normally when we fast...in other words, put your big boy pants on and dont complain about it to others. It is to be done with humility and honor. Its a 'get to' not a 'have to'. As Christ followers we 'get to' fast and hear from our God. Its an awesome thing for us, and a very personal one.

I would love to hear what God is doing in your life through the fast, but lets not get into 'looking gloomy' or grumbling about how hard it is. Lets celebrate that we get to enter into this time with God! OK? OK...carry on!

Seacoast Update
Monday, January 12, 2009 — Brett Thompson

January 12, 2009

Hey Seacoasters!
Great to worship and grow together yesterday.
What a powerful message from Pastor Greg. I have
heard such great things from people about the
message as well as excitement about our 21 day
fast that started last night. I hope you'll
give me a minute or two of your time today to
talk about both of these, especially if you
weren't there yesterday. I know many of you
were out of town, sick, or serving in Kidscoast
yesterday and I want to make sure we are all
together on this one.

First, yesterday Pastor Greg laid out his vision
for us yesterday. It was that we all would
discover God's will for our lives by evaluating
and moving forward in our spiritual growth and
discipline. A tool that is available to you is
mynextsteps.org. Go to www.mynextsteps.org and
take the spiritual health assesment. When you
finish it you will be given a wheel graph just
like the one from Pastor Greg sermon yesterday.
Click on an area in which you would like to
grow, and it will bring up a ton of resources
to help you. IMPORTANT!!!: In addition to that,
we will be having a class THIS WEDNESDAY NIGHT on
how to develop a written spiritual growth plan.
Come out at 7pm. Childcare will be provided.
You will walk away with a plan that you can use
this year to grow in connecting, serving, growing,
sharing and connecting. This class is HIGHLY
recommended no matter where you are in your faith.

Second, yesterday we began a 21-day fast. This is
exciting, and I am really proud of so many of you
really taking it seriously. For more info on the
fast you can go to www.gregsurratt.org or
www.awake21.org Also, we have a discussion board
going on our Facebook page here:
http://tinyurl.com/94kx9u , unless of course you
are fasting from Facebook! If not, then go there
and get in on the discussion. You can post what
God is speaking to you through the fast, prayer
requests, or just hold each other accountable.
Let us know what you are fasting!

Let me close with a quote from the message
yesterday. "If nothing were impossible, and God’s
will was being accomplished in your life, what
would that look like?" Can't wait to see the
answers to that come to life in 2009!

Love you guys! Email me back with your thoughts,
Id love to partner with you through this fast...
and dont forget about the class on Wednesday
night!
